"LifeMasters® Marks Fifth Anniversary With Plans for Expanded Interactive Health Management Services"
Irvine, Calif., July 8, 1999 - As LifeMasters® celebrates five years of service to the managed care industry, the disease management service provider is accelerating plans to enhance its Web-based programs.
Founded in 1994 by David E. Goodman, M.D., as an interactive health monitoring system for patients living with chronic conditions, LifeMasters became the first disease services management company to link Internet capabilities with vital sign monitoring, physician intervention, nursing assistance, and Supported SelfCareSM training customized to the individual.
Throughout its expansion of Web-based services, the company will continue to provide traditional disease management services to clients.
"We’re very proud of the proven reductions in hospitalizations and improved outcomes that our patients have realized while enrolled in LifeMasters interactive programs," said Christobel E. Selecky, the company’s chief executive officer. "Documented reductions in utilization and costs have also solidified our position as a forerunner in the online health management space."
"LifeMasters’ vision has always been to meet the needs of healthcare consumers with high-quality, personalized and interactive monitoring, education, and coaching of chronically ill patients. We look at the Internet as a vehicle to extend our model to a broader audience, and we are now ready to take our vision to the next level," commented Goodman.
"We are now negotiating with major online business partners to offer, for the first time, a true end-to-end solution for customized and interactive health and disease management programs and services over the Internet," Selecky concluded.
Lifemasters provides services for managed care organizations, physician networks and self-funded employers nationwide with field offices in California, Illinois, Georgia, Virginia, Texas and Kansas.
