LIFEMASTERS DISEASE MANAGEMENT WEB SITE NAMED AMONG TOP TEN
-- www.LifeMasters.com Recognized for Excellence in Interactive Care by Industry Group --
IRVINE, Calif. (October 2, 2000) - LifeMasters® a leading provider of interactive disease management services, and its Web site, www.LifeMasters.com, were named as one of the top ten providers of online health and disease management by the Health Industries Research Companies (HIRC), a company that examines trends in the managed care industry.
LifeMasters was selected as a "Top Ten Online Disease Management Firm" for its proven excellence in the categories of continuous data entry, zone stratification, exception reporting and email reminders.
"LifeMasters is proud to be a pioneer of interactive disease management tools that improve patient outcomes through preventative education and intervention, while cutting costs for its managed care customers," said Christobel E. Selecky, CEO of LifeMasters.
LifeMasters’ interactive disease management has been available through participating managed care organizations and health plans since 1994, with an emphasis on the management of chronic diseases, such as congestive heart failure, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, hypertension, and coronary artery disease. LifeMasters covers these conditions alone or in combination (co-morbidities).
In 1999, LifeMasters launched the first interactive health management site for consumers. Enhanced functionality was introduced in April, with additional wellness features, the site is designed to provide individuals with the highest quality online patient education, user-friendly health monitoring protocols and personal feedback, in a manner similar to that of a fully configured disease management program.
LifeMasters.com provides both disease and wellness management that compliment LifeMasters’ fully configured nurse-supervised disease management offerings. The site is gaining popularity as a private-labeled health management tool for well-known portal sites, including iVillage.com. The site also delivers added value to health plan customers, enabling them to offer a range of wellness and health tracking tools to their entire member population.
LifeMasters health management tools, based on clinically proven programs of patient involvement via the Web, combine regular monitoring of vital signs, lifestyle modification and patient education. The LifeMasters suite of health and disease management programs have been recognized by patients, health plans and physicians as effective in improving care and lowering costs.
LifeMasters was named in a November 1999 Goldman Sachs research report as exemplifying the Internet’s fifth "C" in e-health - Care, "the Internet’s biggest benefit to healthcare." The report identifies Care as an important, and still emerging e-health category, along with Content, Commerce, Community and Connectivity. LifeMasters interactive health management enhances quality care by facilitating communications between doctors, their patients and caregivers.
