LIFEMASTERS CEO CHRISTOBEL SELECKY CHOSEN AS 2008 DISEASE MANAGEMENT LEADER In another sign that LifeMasters Supported SelfCare Inc., is positioned in the top tier of disease management companies, CEO Christobel Selecky has been named by Managed Healthcare Executive magazine as one of the "2008 Leaders in Disease Management." The ranking, which was previously published in 2004, is featured in a special supplement of the September issue of the well-known trade magazine. It includes noted thought leaders and health plan or employer executives who have demonstrated accomplishments in disease management (DM). They are evaluated against objective criteria, such as blinded outcomes reports and current industry activities. Selecky is cited for her 27-year career in the healthcare industry - 13 of which are in the disease management field - and for her focus on new models of patient engagement and continued work on transparency in measuring and reporting the value proposition. "She is also committed to integrating [disease management] with wellness and prevention, and incorporating DM into the care for the fee-for-service Medicare population - a goal she says is a must," the magazine writes. Selecky, who was also listed in the previous 2004 ranking, has received attention for her company's development of scientifically based enrollment and engagement strategies to better understand participants' motivations and barriers to successful health management. These strategies have proven to be critical success factors in a demonstration project in which the company is working with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to measure the effectiveness of a disease management program in a dually eligible Medicare/Medicaid fee-for-service population in Florida. Selecky joined LifeMasters as president and CEO in 1996, when LifeMasters had only three employees, no revenues, no customers and limited funding. In addition to growing LifeMasters, Selecky has been instrumental in driving the growth of the disease management industry through her leadership role with the DMAA: the Care Continuum Alliance. She is past president of the DMAA, and Chair of its Strategic Planning Committee. |
