LIFEMASTERS HONORS NURSING EXCELLENCE Presbyterian Healthcare Nurse Earns Advanced Practice Award IRVINE, Calif., November 14, 2008 – LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, Inc. understands the importance of supporting nurses in the work place, in educational settings and in leadership endeavors. That’s why LifeMasters, one of the nation’s leading health improvement companies, has supported the New Mexico Nursing Excellence award process for the past four years. The company presented a New Mexico nurse specializing in cardiovascular services with the Advanced Practice Award during the 2008 Nursing Excellence Awards in Albuquerque last month. Diane Muzenjak, RN, MSN, CNS, APRN-CCRN, of Placitas, New Mexico, was among 26 nurses from throughout New Mexico honored at the event, which was hosted by the New Mexico Center for Nursing Excellence. Muzenjak works for Presbyterian Healthcare Services of Albuquerque, a client of LifeMasters disease management programs. “LifeMasters is pleased to present Diane Muzenjak with the Advance Practice Award for her dedication to the advancement of nursing practice and the improvement this brings to patient care,” said Christobel Selecky, CEO of LifeMasters. “Like Diane, her employer, Presbyterian Health Services, has demonstrated a commitment to taking the extra step to improve the health of the chronically ill.” Muzenjak, who is a clinical nurse specialist at Presbyterian Healthcare Services, has more than 30 years nursing experience, most recently serving as a Certified Nurse Specialist in Cardiovascular Services for Presbyterian Healthcare Services for the past two years. Her previous experience also includes positions as a Nurse Practitioner for the Florida Institute for Cardiovascular Care, for the University Heart Institute in Pembroke Pines, Florida; and a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines and Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. In nominating Muzenjak for the award, Julie Warren and Johanna Stiesmeyer of Presbyterian Healthcare Services cited her “poised engagement with colleagues, persistent dedication to achieve results and an inclusive presence which invites colleagues to grow and achieve. Although she could easily work in private practice as a Nurse Practitioner, she feels that being the Cardiac Critical Care (CCC) CNS allows her to use the full range of her knowledge and skills to benefit the patients, nurses and providers.” |
