LifeMasters Awarded Merit Award in 2003 National Health Information Awards Program

-- Company’s Magazine Recognized in Patient Education Category --

IRVINE, Calif. (September 8, 2003) - LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, Inc., a leading disease management company, was awarded a merit award as part of the 10th Annual National Health Information Awards. LifeMasters was honored in the patient education category for Living WellSM, the health education magazine the company sends to the individuals that it monitors on behalf of health plans, employers and government supported insurance programs.

The award program is sponsored by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC) and is designed to recognize the nation’s best consumer health information programs and materials.

Living WellSM, a proprietary LifeMasters’ publication, has been in existence since 1999 and is the only disease management publication to be honored in this category by the HIRC, a national clearinghouse for consumer health programs and materials.

“We know that empowerment begins with education, and that is the primary mission of Living Well - to provide useful, timely information for individuals with chronic illnesses,” said Christobel Selecky, LifeMasters’ CEO. “It helps the individuals we monitor to become more actively involved with their care. We were delighted to participate in the National Health Information Award program and we are honored to be selected as a winner.”

LifeMasters sends Living Well to over 275,000 program participants engaged in LifeMasters’ disease management programs. Sections in the magazine include Diabetes, Heart Health, Lung Health, and Healthy Living. Articles appearing in Living Well magazine are written by LifeMasters’ registered nurses, in direct response to questions and concerns they hear from individuals they monitor as well as covering other essential information individuals with chronic disease may need to best manage their conditions. Living Well is also translated into both Chinese and Spanish languages to facilitate access to all participants.
